Identify Features on Map

1. Make a layer active.

2. In the Toolbar place your mouse over the identify map icon and a small pop-up message will tell you the function of the tool.

3. Click the icon. A thin red line will appear around the icon

4. Move your mouse cursor to the Interactive Map. The cursor will change from a white pointer arrow to a thin black cross.

5. With your left mouse button, click on a feature of the active layer that you want to find information about. In the example below, the Lake layer was active. The lake feature seen in the picture below was clicked on with the mouse cursor using the Identify tool.

After clicking on a feature in the active layer, attributes about the feature will appear in a table in the Information Bar.

Some field entries in the attribute table might be underlined (or hyperlinked). If you click on a hyperlinked field entry, it will return more information about that feature through a customized interactive web page. See the Hyperlink tool for more information.
