Create a Buffer for Selected Features

1. Make a layer active.

2. Make sure features are selected in the active layer. You can use the Select by Box or Select by Line or Polygon tool to select features.

3. In the Toolbar place your mouse over the buffer select icon and a small pop-up message will tell you the function of the tool.

4. Click the icon. Step-by-step instructions will appear in the Information Bar.

5. After clicking the Create Buffer button, the Interactive Map will zoom to the buffered area.

6. When you are finished using the buffer or want to start a new buffer, you should clear all selected features (yellow and orange), and clear all gray buffers. To do this, select the Clear Selection button.
